ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME

The NC(V) is a high skill, high quality and high knowledge vocational programme that is intended to directly respond to the priority skills demands of the modern economy. In order to obtain an NC(V) qualification, a student is required to take a total of seven (7) subjects, of which three (3) are compulsory (i.e. English First Additional Language, Mathematics OR Mathematical Literacy and Life Orientation) and four (4) vocational subjects from the sub-field organisation of the NQF.

DURATION OF PROGRAMME

The NC(V) qualification is a full-year programme at each level of the NQF. A student is issued with a certificate at each level of study. The duration of the full qualification is three (3) academic years, made up of NQF Level 2, 3 and 4. A student can exit at any level of study and will be issued with a certificate at the specific level.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

A Pre-Vocational Learning Programme (PLP) certificate with a 50% pass in English and Life Orientation and a 60% pass in Mathematics and Foundational Science

OR

Grade 9 statement with a 50% pass in Mathematics and English FAL

OR

AET Level 4 (GETC) with a 50% pass in Mathematics/Mathematical Literacy and English FAL

OR

Equivalent Occupational Qualification

OR

RPL Assessment Programme

OR

APS score of 24, using the best of five Grade 9 subjects plus English (excluding Life Orientation)

OR

APS score of 22, using the best of five Grade 10 /NC(V) Level 2 subjects inclusive of English (excluding Life Orientation)

OR

APS score of 20, using the best of five Grade 11/NC(V) Level 3 subjects inclusive of English (excluding Life Orientation)

OR

APS score of 18 using the best of five NSC/N3/NC(V) Level 4 subjects inclusive of English (excluding Life Orientation)
