Why the Placement Assessment is Important

The Placement Assessment is a crucial part of your application process at Vuselela TVET College. It serves the following purposes:

Personalized Course Recommendations: The test helps the college identify your strengths, interests, and skills, allowing us to recommend a course best suited for you.
Career Alignment: By completing the test, you gain valuable insight into the career paths that align with your abilities and interests, ensuring that the course you choose is aligned with your future goals.
Compulsory Requirement: The test is mandatory for all new students and is an essential step in ensuring you start your studies in the right direction. Although you can choose your own course, completing the test helps you make a more informed decision.

Completing the test honestly will give you and the college a clear understanding of which program can best support your success.

Completing the Placement Assessment

With the Placement Assessment, our goal is to empower you to make well-informed decisions about your course selection while helping the college provide tailored support to meet your needs. Your Course Placement Report, generated from the eight modules you’ll complete, plays a crucial role in this journey.

Section 1: Career Guidance

In this section, you will explore careers that align with your future goals. Here’s what to do:

Complete the Career Guidance Questionnaire to identify careers best suited for you.
After completing the questionnaire, explore the career options presented to you. Your results will be emailed to you.
Log out after completing this section, and when you’re ready, log back into the system using your username and password.

Section 2: Pre-Entry Course Placement

In this section, you will need to complete the Pre-Entry Course Placement Assessment:

Complete ALL the assessment modules (batteries) in this folder. Do not skip any sections.
If you fail to complete the assessments in one session, you can return later to finish them using your login details.

Important tips for you

Important Notes

Mandatory Screening: Completing the Placement Assessment is compulsory. While this screening will recommend a course for you, you still have the right to choose a different course based on your preference. If you do so, you will need to sign an acknowledgment form confirming your choice.
Honesty is Essential: It’s crucial that you follow all instructions and answer the assessment questions honestly. If someone else completes the screening for you, you might end up in a course that is not suitable for you, which could lead to poor performance.
Username and Password: Be sure to write down and store your username and password safely. If your internet connection drops, you can log back in as a Returning User and continue where you left off. You’ll need these credentials for further assessments when you enter college.
Recovering Lost Credentials: If you lose your username or password, you can reset and recover them under the “Returning User” button.

The Placement Assessment is mandatory for all new students applying to Vuselela TVET College. Completing this test helps the college provide you with personalized course recommendations and ensures that you are on the right track for your academic and career goals.

Who We Consider a New Student

You are considered a new student if any of the following apply to you:

You are applying to Vuselela TVET College for the first time.
You have never been enrolled in any course at Vuselela TVET College before.
You did not have a Vuselela Student number in any previous year.

If any of the above criteria apply, you are required to complete the Placement Assessment to begin your academic journey at Vuselela TVET College.
